KTN is seeking to recruit an exceptional individual to help deliver knowledge transfer and related activities, aimed at stimulating innovation in specific sectors, technologies or cross-cutting themes which contribute to the overarching strategic aims of KTN to drive positive change for the UK economy and society.
This post is within the Materials team, reporting to the Head of Materials. The team works to understand the materials technology needs of UK Industry and the scientific/engineering capabilities of the research base, facilitating the transfer of knowledge within and between these groups and the establishment of collaborations and innovation adoption.
The role will provide technical capability and market expertise in the field of advanced functional materials, with particular attention to high growth technologies and their adoption by UK businesses. The suitable candidate will be required to address KTN’s targets, with particular attention to business interaction, and building effective relationships with our key stakeholders in Innovate UK, UKRI and academia.
The focus will be on topics in the field of advanced materials such as metamaterials, e- textiles, smart self-healing structures, structural health monitoring, low power energy harvesting and intelligent packaging. KTN has a number of emerging strategic aims in areas such as Sustainability and Net Zero and these provide the context within which the sector expertise will be primarily targeted.
The desired requirements for this role includes:
- Normally degree qualified or higher (or equivalent) and with industrial or post-graduate research experience
- Demonstrated experience in the application of functional materials into systems with an understanding of how these systems may be exploited for commercial value
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, with good external profile.
